THE CRITICAL POINT
The critical point explores the commonalities among human experiences in extreme states, unifying the diversity of human experience and expression into a neutral grayscale value. It avoids an overly binary view and surpasses the limitation of the subject-object dichotomy. I am reminded of the fundamental differences between our perception of self-experience and that of all other human experiences, and how our own minds connect with other minds as I contemplate how to approach them. Included in the work are images such as the crucifixion of Jesus, extreme physical indulgence, and the beheading of ISIS. Climax, pain, and extreme happiness can all be considered emotional experiences in extreme states, with the potential to produce similar effects when they reach the critical point, such as a breakthrough in reality, a feeling of self-disintegration, or a sense of self-transcendence. Therefore, it can be said that the critical points of climax, pain, and extreme happiness have certain common characteristics and effects. Additionally, there is a commonality between the physical and spiritual, as well as between sexuality and religion. The ultimate goal of many disciplines, such as philosophy, political theory, and religion, is to explore the nature of pure consciousness and achieve an organized understanding beyond reason.
